Privacy Policy
Royal Shield Insurance Services
Effective Date:
Royal Shield Insurance Services (“Royal Shield,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a licensed insurance broker (CA DOI Lic #6000856) based in Whittier, California. We place both commercial coverage (including commercial auto and trucking) and personal/household coverage for individuals. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you visit royalshieldinsurance.com (the “Site”) or otherwise interact with us — by phone, text/SMS, WhatsApp, email, or in person.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of information:
Contact information you provide: name, phone number, email, mailing address.
Insurance information needed to quote or service a policy: business/DOT information, vehicle or fleet details, driver information (which may include driver’s license or CDL numbers — see Section 6), driving history, prior coverage, and similar details relevant to the personal and commercial insurance products we offer, including personal auto and commercial trucking coverage.
Communications you send us through the Site’s quote form, phone, SMS/text, WhatsApp, or email.
Technical information collected automatically when you use the Site, such as IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited, through cookies and similar technologies (see Section 5).
Information from third parties, such as insurance carriers, motor vehicle record (MVR) providers, and DOT/FMCSA compliance data sources, used to underwrite, quote, and service your coverage.
We do not knowingly collect Social Security numbers or government ID numbers through the Site’s general contact/quote forms; if we need that information to bind or service a policy, we collect it through a secure, direct channel. Certain online quote forms for commercial auto and trucking coverage may request driver’s license or CDL numbers for drivers on a fleet, because carriers generally require this to quote and bind coverage — see Section 6 for how we handle this information.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
Prepare and provide insurance quotes;
Communicate with you about your quote, application, or policy, including by phone, text/SMS, WhatsApp, or email;
Submit your information to insurance carriers to obtain coverage on your behalf;
Service existing policies (renewals, certificates of insurance, endorsements, claims support);
Verify driver eligibility and DOT/regulatory compliance where applicable;
Operate, secure, and improve the Site and our services;
Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud and other illegal activity; and
Send you marketing communications, but only where you have opted in as described in Section 4.
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with:
Insurance carriers and underwriters to obtain and service quotes and policies;
Motor vehicle record and compliance data providers to verify driving history and DOT/FMCSA compliance information relevant to your coverage;
Service providers who help us operate our business (e.g., website hosting, CRM, communications platforms, e-signature), under confidentiality obligations;
Analytics and advertising partners, such as Google and Meta, through the cookies described in Section 5. As explained in Section 8, this may be considered “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law, even though we do not sell information for money;
Regulators or law enforcement, when required by law; and
A successor entity, in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of business assets.
4. Text/SMS and WhatsApp Communications
If you provide your phone number and opt in, we may contact you by SMS text message or WhatsApp regarding quotes, policy servicing, renewals, or (only with your separate marketing consent) promotional content.
Message and data rates may apply.
Message frequency varies.
You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any text, or by messaging us directly to be removed from WhatsApp communications.
Reply HELP for assistance.
Consent to receive texts or WhatsApp messages is not a condition of purchasing any insurance product.
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies. We use the following categories:
Strictly necessary cookies: required for the Site to function, such as session management and form submission.
Analytics cookies: help us understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it.
Advertising cookies: used by partners such as Google and Meta to measure and personalize ads, including remarketing to visitors who leave the Site.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. See Section 8 for how to opt out of advertising cookies specifically, including through Global Privacy Control (GPC).
6. Sensitive Personal Information
“Sensitive personal information,” as defined under California law, that we may collect includes driver’s license or similar government-issued identification numbers, collected as part of the vehicle, fleet, or driver-qualification information needed to quote, bind, or service a personal or commercial auto policy.
We collect and use sensitive personal information only as reasonably necessary to: provide the insurance products and services you request; verify driver eligibility and DOT/FMCSA compliance requirements; comply with applicable insurance regulatory and legal obligations; and detect, prevent, or investigate fraud. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you, and we do not use or disclose it for any purpose beyond what is described in this Policy. California residents have the right to direct us to limit our use of sensitive personal information — see Section 8.
7. GLBA Notice for Individual and Household Insurance Customers
When you obtain, or apply for, insurance coverage for personal, family, or household purposes (for example, personal auto insurance), certain nonpublic personal financial information we collect about you is also subject to the federal Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) and California’s Financial Information Privacy Act (CalFIPA), in addition to the rights described elsewhere in this Policy. This section does not apply to information we collect solely in connection with commercial or business insurance.
Under GLBA and CalFIPA:
No marketing disclosure we do not disclose your nonpublic personal financial information to nonaffiliated third parties for their own marketing purposes, except as permitted by law and as otherwise described in Section 3 (for example, to obtain and service your coverage);
Annual notice we provide individual policyholders with a GLBA/CalFIPA privacy notice describing our information practices when coverage is issued, and annually thereafter for as long as you remain a customer, as required by law; and
Greater protection applies where GLBA/CalFIPA and the CCPA both apply to the same information, we apply whichever framework provides you greater protection, consistent with applicable law.
A copy of our full GLBA/CalFIPA notice is available upon request — contact us using the information in Section 15.
8. Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
The rights below apply to personal information generally. Personal information collected in connection with a GLBA-covered transaction (Section 7) may be subject to a partial exemption from certain CCPA requirements; where an exemption applies, we still honor these rights to the extent required by law.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
Know what personal information we have collected, used, or disclosed about you, including the categories of sources and the categories of third parties we share it with;
Delete your personal information, subject to legal exceptions (e.g., information we must retain for insurance recordkeeping);
Correct inaccurate personal information;
Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. Royal Shield does not sell personal information for money. However, the advertising cookies described in Section 5 (e.g., Google, Meta) may constitute “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. You can opt out by: (1) using your browser’s cookie controls or the cookie preference tool in the Site footer; (2) enabling a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in a supported browser — we treat a detected GPC signal as a valid opt-out request for that browser or device; or (3) contacting us using the information in Section 15;
Limit the use of sensitive personal information (see Section 6) to the purposes described in this Policy; and
Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
To exercise these rights, contact us using the information in Section 15. We will acknowledge your request within 10 business days and respond within 45 calendar days (which may be extended once by an additional 45 days where reasonably necessary, with notice to you). We will verify your request before responding and may ask for information such as your name, phone number, email address, or policy information to do so. You may make a verifiable request no more than twice within a 12-month period, and you are not required to create an account with us to submit one. You may also designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf; we may require proof of the agent’s authorization and may still need to verify your identity directly.
9. Other State Privacy Rights
If you are a resident of a state with its own comprehensive privacy law (for example, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, or Utah), you may have similar rights to know, delete, correct, or opt out of targeted advertising with respect to your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us using the information in Section 15, and we will respond consistent with the requirements of the applicable state law.
10. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Data Retention
We retain personal and policy-related information for as long as needed to provide services, meet our legal and regulatory recordkeeping obligations as a licensed broker, and resolve disputes.
12. Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to individuals under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted information through the Site, please contact us using the information in Section 15 and we will take steps to remove it.
13. Links to Other Websites
The Site may contain links to third-party websites that are not controlled by Royal Shield. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing them with information.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” above reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be posted on this page.
